Welcome to The Face Project

Why Character Education?

Welcome to The FACE Project. What does our name mean: Functional Approach to Character Education? It means just that. Character Education is missing in our schools. The FACE Project has made it easy for grades Pre-K through 5 by creating the entire lesson plans for teachers. Check our Sample Lesson page on the website.

The FACE Project (Functional Approach to Character Education) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2000 by psychologists, teachers, education researchers, and local citizens. Our curricula have been used in hundreds of schools. 

We Provide:

A research-based and comprehensive teacher curriculum, integrated within the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL). 38 weekly lesson plans per grade, preschool through 5th grade that focus on learning tolerance, empathy, respect, and celebrating differences.  Integrated within the Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia Public Schools.
Teacher and counselor-friendly curriculum that is developed by educators for educators. School professionals are offered in-service training with follow-up consultations to enable teachers and counselors to institute a program that is designed around a comprehensive Character Education curriculum, featuring weekly, individualized lesson plans for preschool through fifth grades.

Our Mission

We advance strong character and citizenship among young people, in all grade levels, through partnerships with teachers and parents to help people live and work together as families, friends, neighbors, communities and nations.

The FACE Project creates and provides comprehensive, innovative teaching curricula, lesson plans, workshops, and educational materials for teachers, parents, schools and communities to bring quality character education into all types of learning environments.
